This book: The Weary World Rejoices, edited by Melissa Kruger and published by The Gospel Coalition. Yes, it’s for Advent, and I do realize that season is over until next winter, but I’m going to talk about it now because it’s never too early to start planning ahead. It brought a depth of meaning to Advent for me this year that I’ve missed in prior years.
This podcast: In the Lord I Take Refuge: Daily Devotions through the Psalms with Dane Ortlund. A new episode is released each weekday, and I’ve been starting my commute with this. Bonus: it comes as a book too/instead, if you’d rather read it.
This album: Mumford & Sons “Sigh No More”. Yeah, it’s older than either of my children, their style isn’t for everyone, and they make no claims (to my knowledge) to be a Christian band. Their lyrics display Biblical influence however, and this album has been a bright spot in a hard season.
This cookie recipe: (Fresh) Cranberry Chocolate Chunk Brown Butter Cookies. Full disclosure: I did absolutely zero Christmas baking this year. Hubs did it all, and asked what kind of cookies I wanted him to make. I told him that when I was a teenager, my mom found a recipe for cranberry chocolate chip cookies that we managed to lose somehow. This is not the same recipe, but it’s amazing, and worth a little indulgence occasionally, even though I’m generally gluten-free and sugar-free these days.
